Our annual handmade holiday event was held on Saturday, November 28th + Sunday, November 29th, 2009 at the Visual Studies Workshop auditorium.

Second Storie and Made By Rachel presented two screenings of the indie documentary Handmade Nation, Faythe Levine's exploration of the rise of the DIY art, craft and design movement. This film has been all the buzz in the online crafting community.

Handmade Nation's Rochester premiere on November 27th was the perfect way to kick off our annual Indie Market weekend! This screening was preceded by a panel discussion with a handful of our favorite artists and crafters, Mike Ford from thread, and led by Rachel Chaffee of Made by Rachel. They shared their experiences, stories and successes of making it in the world of art+ craft, while the audience enjoyed some homemade baked goods.

On the following Friday, for those who were out of town for Thanksgiving, we had a second screening. No panel discussion, but we still served yummy snacks!
